Colours in UKM

Semester 2 brings dull colours to UKM.

For the first year students, this is their time to start understanding UKM cultures and environments.  Getting used with no water at the college, lots of assignments and presentations, wild dogs going around and if lucky a family of wildboar (or pig??)..aa..dont forget the monkeys.

For the second year students, this is the time where they have to learn how to cope up with studies and responsibilities at the same time.  They dont have much time to even open the books, going to ptsl or sometimes going to class.  This is where meeting is around the corner.  Meeting here, meeting there, meeting everywhere.  Programs here, programs there, programs everywhere.  Yet they still have time to sleep after Subuh, to FBing.  Weird  how students live their life.

As for the third year aka final year students,  this is not their honeymoon period.  Though some of them managed to marry during this time of year (lucky for them), they still havent get the privilege to take the semester off and go for a trip anywhere, not even to Kundasang~ They have to sleep with the thesis, eat with the thesis, bath with the thesis or even talk with the thesis.  Though some of them pretend they are at leisure and thesis will not bite them off, still when the dateline comes, they will be the first one to burn the midnight oil.  By the end of the day, whether they will pass with flying colours or end up extending semester here in UKM.  They don’t have much choice either.  Too many kenduri also don’t help in increasing the mood of final year students except the marriage couple.

Thus, this semester passes slowly for the first and second year.  1 month left before this semester ends, the final year cannot wait much longer but still they keep their focus on finishing their thesis.  Not much to think anyway.  There's still students activities going on like college dinners, AGM, trips and so forth.  However, these are all too common and expected.

We are all hoping for a colourful semester that will be the next semester.  By entering the semester we will be greet with Campus Election (PRK) in September.  Then, there is our convocation day in October.  Those two event will surely canvass the campus for the whole semester.  Wonderful candidates will show up, colourful campaigns, propagandas, purple everywhere, speaker corners, election day and maybe a small demonstration… After that, our graduation moment…Blissful moment no matter what class we get.  Surely the first class students will be more oblivion.  Fresh flowers, boxes of chocolate, teddy bears, photoshoot, jubah konvo (is it cloak?~ doesn’t seem to suit)…but what will be more thrill for the graduates are the final gift that they get or take from the UKM.  After three or four years in UKM, some manage to get the first class degree, the second class upper and the second class lower.  Added value will be graduated with new status.  They take away certificate and also ehmm… a life partner.  So they will step out  proudly from UKM along with 2 certificate~ degree and marriage certificates… while the rest of them will be less lucky---but still a fiancee will be much better than none.  Thus, look around so u may not end up taking only a certificate when walking out from UKM.  Why choose less when there is more to take?

Or for the ambitious one (that is the reason they still manage to stay single~), getting a job earlier and continue with master is much more preferable so they still can walk away with pride.  Go! Go!

So, until now, just stay alive and don't get drool~
